Ticking/clicking noise on video/audio playback

I have a late 2012 iMac that sometimes creates a clicking/tickign audio noise when streaming video or audio. It happens via many methods Netflix(Silverlight), YouTube(Flash), and most recently on the audio stream of the Apple quarterly earnings call. Does anyone else have this problem?
