Jan 28, 2014 9:35 AM in response to AudioMekhanikby Klaus1,eBay or Amazon would probably be the only sources of that ancient version of OS X. Ditto about Leopard which can cost up to $200.
Do not be tempted to download them from an illegal torrent source, as they will probably include considerable malware.
Suggestion: put the money aside for a more up-to-date Intel based Mac!

Jan 28, 2014 10:18 AM in response to Klaus1by AudioMekhanik,Thanks for the advice. I've searched Amazon and Ebay and I'm finding what I'm looking for but it's not cheap, so I'm searching for other options. Hope to upgrade to a newer system this year but for now my G5 tower still performs excellently for music recording and editing. No need to buy something new when all I need is to do a simply OS upgrade.

Jan 28, 2014 4:47 PM in response to AudioMekhanikby Eustace Mendis,I'm running OS 10.3.9 on a Dual 2.0 G5 tower. Having issues connecting to the internet. I'm hoping to upgrade to the highest OS which is 10.5.8 but I need to make the jump to 10.4 first.
That does not seem right. My memory is that one can go from 10.3 to 10.5 in one installation.
Either of you two, BDAqua or Klaus1, remember?

I hope you are right Eustace. I found the FREE download link to 10.5.8 on Apples website but it says it's for 10.5 users only. Maybe I'm taking it too literally? Will give it a try tonight and report back.

Jan 28, 2014 5:37 PM in response to Eustace Mendisby BDAqua,10.4 isn't required, unless you had a very rare gray 10.5 Up to Date Install Disc... & I'm not sure if they worked on G5s or not since they were only supplied to people that bout a Mac with 10.4 installed & got it a couple of weeks before 10.5 came out.

Jan 29, 2014 8:51 AM in response to BDAquaby AudioMekhanik,OK last night I had success upgrading my OS and here's the deal: I tried to upgrade from 10.3.9 straight to 10.5 and it would not let me, it said I had to updrade to 10.4 FIRST. After running the 10.4 upgrade I was able to jump to 10.5 and eventually 10.5.8 via Apples website.
And by the way, as soon as I upgraded to 10.4 my internet issues disappeared and I'm online now. So, for any Tiger OS users out there having internet issues, upgrade to 10.4 Leopard and hopefully you'll solve your issues like I did.
Again this is all work / upgrades done on a G5 PPC Dual 2.0 tower.
