i have an ipod 5th generation nano & after 3 years perfect operation the sound is coming out of the speaker even though the headphones are plugged in how do i fix this if at all possible???

SOUND THROUGH SPEAKER WITH HEADPHONES CONNECTED HOW CAN THIS PROBLEM BE RESOLVED ???
