msvcr80.dll missing on XP Pro

Apparently Windows XP Pro has one extra malware-detector that complicates fresh installs of Itunes

find your new download of the most recent Itunes setup executable (ealier setups install ear;lier libraries that become its own headache)

Right-click on ItunesSetup.exe, and under XP Pro you might see 2 radio buttons: The first option is yourself, and there is a checkbox under your name saying "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity"

The second option should be "administrator" accompanied by an empty PASSWORD entry field. You will have no idea what that password is, if like myself you are the only user of your XP Poro box. Do not attempt to try passwords, this is the wrong way in.

Stick with yourself-option, and MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity"

Attempts to re-install Itunes will fail until that checkbox is cleared, I suppose it is a stupid malware detector.

5 days of trying to reinstall, an hour and a half on the phone with Itunes tech support who are utterly LOST.

If you run XP, you need this info: UNCHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity"
