VPN Not functioning

I know there were some issues with the VPN but I don't thnk the issues have been completely solved. Basically what I am experiancing is that i can connect to the VPN but the connection is unstable. Once the VPN has connected I try and use ARD it allows me to log on but as soon as I connect the screen locks up and I get the spinning wheel of death as it trys to reconnect. Then the VPN disconnects itself.

Any ideas? I've done several checks the issue points towards the server. AFP works ok.
