unable to choose imap type of account in my e-mail set up

Unable to choose imap as my account type in Mail set-up, only POP is available to choose from. Tried to set up another account in mail set-up and system won't recognise my e-mail provider password yet service provider confirmed password is good.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013), O S 10.9 Maverick

I have found a very simple solution to this matter from another post to the forum.

When you first set-up your Mail, when the system ask you for your name,e-mail address then your password then you press your "Option" key at the same time as pressing the "continue" button, then you are prompted to choose your input manually.You must know your Incoming and outgoing server names but the nice thing is, my God you can choose a IMAP set up finally !
