Why does my Siri not have a translucent background?

Recently I have noticed that when I turn on Siri and start talking to it, there is no translucent background. For example when you launch notification center or control center there is kind of a transparent/translucent background. Siri is supposed to do the same thing and mine doesn't. I have friends who are also running iOS 7 and their Siri's are translucent. I have tried using Siri in both airplane and cellular mode/wifi if that helps and I keep getting this black background. I have also tried restarting. How do I fix this? I have attached a photo of what my Siri looks like.
