Q: I hear the camera clicking when taking a picture (outside) but it's not saving to the camera roll.  Why?

I was outside taking pictures of the ice accumulation at my house (in the south) I could hear the camera clicking but nothing was recorded on the camera roll.  Don't understand what's happening!! Help.
