iphone 7.0.4 calendar alert sound too short?

All of my previous dumb cheap phones have the alert sound in calendar sound continuously until I dismissed. The iphone calendar alert sound only lasted couple seconds. What if one just left the phone on the desk for a couple minute break and missed the alert completely? I had missed a few events with this apply "stoopid" design. Am I missing something simple or it's a "stoopid" design?

ckuan, but a second alert or different sound don't solve the problem. Please provide a detail why you think it helps if one was away from phone for 5 or 10 minutes? Why not simply have the alert sound work same as the clock alarm: continue until dismissed? What so hard to do? Why hassle with 2nd alert?

Because I have more than just Calendar alerts, Emails, missed calls, Reminders, Weather alerts, etc...

I can go back to my iPhone and swipe down my notification center to see what I've missed. I do not want a continueous sound like my alarm clock. For important events, i used 2 alerts.

Anyway it's not a feature of the iPhone,

You can make your suggest here:

You seem to be confusing the two. An alarm is an alarm, a reminder is just that, a reminder. I'm not sure what "dumb" phones you are referring to, but I've had a lot, and I've never seen a calendar reminder act like an alarm clock that wouldn't stop until acted on.

Try looking through the App store and see if any of the other calendar apps provide you with what you are looking for.

Before I upgraded to iphone couple months ago, all of the Verizon phones I had -- Motorola I think -- had the calendar alert like a alarm sound.

Think about this logic: why a dentis appointment events set in 6 months in advance is tobe treated different than tomorrow doctor appointment set in clock alarm? For me a clock alarm with 6 months or more time capacity is a calendar alarm, and the rest of the world, including Apple still wrap up with the old fashion clock alarm.

Let's ask the question again: Why design the calendar alert sounds for only couple seconds? Did Steve Jobs assumed people always hung their phone on their necks all the time? This doesn't sound smart, phones or designers.

Here is the question:

1) why a dentis appointment event set 6 months in advance in calendar is to be treated different than tomorrow doctor appointment set in clock alarm? Why should the two be treated differently?

2) Why the alarm in Calendar and Reminder only last 1 or 2 seconds? Did the designers assume the users hang their phone on their necks all the time, never sleep? If the answer is yes, then why not make the phone ring tone and alarm clock also 1 second short?

Obviously it had been designed this way, but it can be improved in the future.

I agree with lyem... the Calendar alerts are too short.

I think they can be improved adding more options, like repeating sounds or even songs, just as the alarm clock.

if those are added, everyone would be happy.

I quit using them after creating alerts for some birthdays that I missed because I didn't hear the sound/wasn't with my iPad/iPhone in the moment of the alerts.

Yes, I set two alerts...

You do realize that you have access to all of your alert and ringtone options when setting a sound for Calendar alerts. That allows you up to a 30 second alert tone, and you can repeat that. How much longer would you want it to sound. Again, it is not an alarm, it is a reminder. If you need an alarm, then set an alarm. The feedback link is also posted for you to provide your opinion to Apple.

Although I am sure other folks who might be within earshot of your device are quite grateful it cannot perform as you wish. (And how in the world do you miss a Birthday because an alarm doesn't go off? Do you not look at your calendar?)

Perhaps what you really need is to make use of Notification Center: http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iph6534c01bc
