how to get itunes to sync music?

I hae been trying all day to get my itunes to sync my music. I took some music off my phone and am trying to put new music on it. the problem is that my itunes will sync everything with my phone but my music.I have everything checked that needs to be checked for it to sync the music. How can I get it to sync the music?
