Q: i can't get into my ipod..

I can't get into my ipod, it died and when i put it on the charger it turned on 5 minutes later like usual. There was a voiceover that named everything that i tapped, and when i went to put in my passcode, the boxes were still empty, it was like my ipod keybord was frozen. So I can't even get into my ipod to find out what the problem is... help!
