I made the pointer bigger with the wired USB mouse that came with my Mac Pro.
It does the same with my other Apple Pro mouse.
I bought a new mouse-pad, the old was dirty.
The pointer jumps all over, sometimes it does not move, or moves where I can't find it.
Very time-cosuming frustrating situation!plenty of space, memory running 10.6.8.

I had same behavior mouse pad. I think surface pattern of mouse pad doesn't suit with mouse. I change it and works OK now.
Two other possibilities:
Make sure the bottom of the mouse is clean (a hair across the opening for the laser will make the mouse go wonky.)
Try using the bare desktop; I've been doing that for years with Apple and Kensington mice. I protect the surface with a piece of clear adhesive shelf paper.

Icleaned both mice I own with compressed air on the bottom.
I also tried various different surfaces desk-top blank paper, cardboard cloth.
At this point I believe it might be a sensitivity-thing that needs to be adressed
by Apple sice this is going on accross the board wired, wireless.
Anybody know what is the best way to get Apple involved?

We have no standard way of "escalating" issues that come up here. If you have warranty coverage, calling the 800-number gets another call on their list for this issue, and they can fedex you a new mouse.
Otherwise, an appointment at the Genius Bar will get you a free evaluation, and hopefully, a free replacement mouse.
If you are using a wireless mouse I cured mine by moving the USB receiver away from the back of an iMac 27 inch. Before that the cursor was flying all over the place and driving me insane!
