FCPX not importing AVCHD files

Hello Russ and thanks for getting back to me.

When I connect the camera it loads all the files as it should, I select them all then go to import them into a new file. Once the import kicks off it will start to import the files I actually can watch the pie chart chip away, but once it gets to about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way done it fails. One of the smaller clips maybe 15 sec long did import thou so I know it does work a very small persentage of the time.

I'm not infront of my Mac now, but when I get back to my office I can attach some screen shots.

Hello Luis,

I get an error after every clip tries to import that the import failed and it is using the media instead of importing.

when you mouse over the clip it refrences the camera / card for the video.

every import fails about 50-75% completion.

one of the smaller clips maybe 20 sec did import thou, so I know it does import successfully with smaller clips, at least it did once.

I will try a different card and see if I get the same results on that

the funny thing is, I was able to import on this card before?

The card that I am having the issues on is the newest card I have which is a Transcend 64GB Class 10 SDXC card

Yes, i'm importing into a Library, then I create a new even where all the AVCHD / clips go

it also copies all the files into a folder on a OWC Mercury elite pro 4 Disk Raid 5 enclosure connected to an eSATA pci card.

Again, I never had an issue doing this prior to the FCPX 10.0 upgrade

I also reset the FCPX prefrences as suggested and still getting the same issues.

It acts like it's importing properly, and it even imports the first AVCHD file whic is only 15 sec long, but when it gets to one of the larger ones it fails..

actually the first file only imported, all the rest failed

Ok so I tried a new card or should I say an old card that I knew worked in the past and still getting the same errors!! Got fed up and decided to unistall everything....

now one thing I did notice was in the library folder where the instructions tell you to delete

com.apple.FinalCut.LSSharedFileList.plist
com.apple.FinalCut.plist
com.apple.FinalCut.UserDestinations.plist

I did notice there were .lock files, so I deleted all of them to

then I noticed there were files called
com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist

not sure where this came from with the Pro.plist but I deleted that as well.

I reinstalled FCPX 10.1.1 and so far so good 🙂

I am past the point where it was failing and the import seems to be going just fine now!!

I hope I don't have this issue again as it is a pain to start from scratch everytime I have a problem...

I may have spoken too soon

the first 7 clips imported without any issue then they started failing again from clip 8 and 9 so far!!!

this really is a pain!!

So the rest of the imports failed

even when I tried to reimport they still failed

the only other thing I can think of is maybe the USB 3 card reader is somehow causing this issue??

so I tried to reimport using a USB 2 card reader I have and still got the same errors??

So here is the question, why would it import the first 8 clips then fail??

before I deleted FCPX it was failing almost all the time, only the very short clips were importing??

After the reinstall of FCPX it imported the first 8 clips just fine??

very strange???

I tried reimporting using the usb2 card reader again and some of the clips that failed before imported OK but some / most are failing?

I'm calling it a night here, but if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please let me know
