mp4 with srt movie files display subtitles correctly in Divx but not in iTunes??

I have an mp4 formatted movie file along with a srt formatted subtitles file within a folder. I can play the mp4 file with Divx and the subtitles display fine. However, when I try to play within iTunes/Apple TV, they do not display. Any ideas why or what I can do to have the subtitles display when watching the movie? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, iTunes does not have this capability yet, i.e., adding/viewing a separate .srt file with the movie file.

What worked for me is converting the mp4 file (or AVI, MKV etc.) to m4v (+ burning in the external srt file) using Handbrake. The result is a file that you can play in iTunes or Apple TV with the option of viewing the subtitles. If you're interested, I could give you details.

Hello,

1-Could you give me the details on how to adding subtitles and having the option to view the movie with it or not.

I am using pavtube byte copy to rip blu rays to m4v files for apple tv.

How do I get set files?

2- Also how how could I have two audio tracks (2 languages) in the same movie , so I can choose when watching in apple tv which language to listen to the movie in. Bytecopy has an option for multi track audio, which gives me a bigger file only in english without the option to the other languages.

Please advice

thank you
