Download AppZapper.

It's a free trial.

Install it and open it.

Drag VLC to it and "zap it" to the trash.

It should take some of the preferences.

You also want to check:

Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins

Trash the VLC Plugin.plugin from there.

Then go to:

[user]/Library/Preferences (Hold the Option key and click "Go" from the Finder menu to access the [user]/Library folder)

Trash the following:

org.videolan.vlc (it's a package)

org.videolan.vlc.LSSharedFileList.plist

org.videolan.vlc.plist

Empty the trash, and then download and reinstall VLC.

It should work after that.

VLC freeze
