Q: If I try to text this ONE person, it sends as SMS, even though she has an iPhone; she can iMessage me, though.

I've had an iPhone 4 for a little over a year now, and never had any issues with iMessage, but my friend just got an iPhone 5C. Of course, I still text her, but my texts always go out as SMS's. I can still recieve her texts, though, as iMessages. This only happens with her contact. There has been one time that my text sent as an iMessage, but I hadn't moved to a different location or anything.

I tried switching her number to iPhone instead of just Mobile in her contact, but there wasn't an option for iPhone. Today I created a new contact for her, and managed to enter her number as an iPhone. Even after that, it wouldn't work. I tried going somewhere I'd have WiFi, in case it had something to do with my carrier. She can text other people with iMessage, too.

Any ideas??? I'd really appreciate it

    Hello there, frogs13.

The following Knowledge Base article has some great information for troubleshooting your issue:

    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755

    Specifically:

If you are still unable to send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps

    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Verify that the contact you are attempting to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
    3. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    4. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    5. Back up and restore your device as new.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

    Cheers,

    Pedro.
