I can't send iMessages from my Mac?

Thank you for your reply. Your level of computer sophistication is greater than mine. When I'm in iCloud and click "Sign Out" it asks if I want to Keep Contacts or Delete From Mac. Which do I click?

Hmmm, i finally had a chance to look in these libraries as you mentioned (the ~/library locations). That madrid.plist file is nowhere to be found. But messaging is now working fine....

(i wonder what else i broke 🙂 )

In the beginning I can't send an iMessage, however I can receive them. At the moment I can't sign in into my account.

I had the same problem! this fixed it

Follow these steps to set up text message forwarding on your iPhone:

1. Click on the Messages app in your Mac to open it.
2. Move to the iPhone. Tap Settings > Messages.
3. Tap Text Message Forwarding.
4. You should see a list of all your devices linked to the Apple ID. Tap the one you want to send and receive messages to On.
5. You should see a six-digit code appear on in Messages on the Mac. And on the iPhone an alert window will appear marked Text Message Forwarding.
6. Enter the six digit code displayed in Messages on the Mac into the alert window on the iPhone and tap Allow.

HI,

Several things.

1) This post is in Mavericks and the Answer you supply deals with Yosemite (only).

2) the Original Questions only applies to iMessages - where each Contact says it is "Not Registered" on the Mac (whilst working on an iPhone) - and your answer deals with a feature in the iOS 8 and Yosemite Combo that is set on the iPhone.

3) The Question was posted before Yosemite came Out and therefore cannot conceivably be the "Same Issue " that you had.

4) As the 1-6 steps you list are the set up steps anyway for the feature you list they didn't actually solve any issue. (In my book not setting it up in the first place is not an issue with the app or a particular feature of it).

I know what you mean, this method works with both Yosemite and mavericks, I too was not able to send any iMessage from my mac, it would turn read and just would not send after of a few days and not been able to repair it, I phone apple and according to them, they said they reason for this was because the person I was trying to contact has not got a iPhone, and i did not agree as I been using iMessage to contact everyone in my phonebook for a couple of years now, so for hours i looked through settings, changing things updateting things if needed to evan doing a full fresh install and still nothing, and then just before I gave up i found those settings on my phone, you're mac don't send texts, it connects to you're phone and sends it but in order to do so you have to set the correct settings on the phone for it to except sms forwarding. I was sending messages one day and the next i couldn't, no update or settings changing was done, it just automatically was changed

This can only be done on an iOS 8 iPhone but has NO EFFECT to the Mavericks version of Messages and it's iMessages account as this Version CANNOT do Text Forwarding and accept SMS/Text - there is no part in the App that can generate the 6 digit Code.

Your insistence that is works in both Yosemite and Mavericks is erroneous.

I am posting again to correct this error so that other people have the right information.

There are instances where resetting the iPhone to make sure the iPhone Number is registered/verified with the iMessages servers is a valid thing to do.

This was awesome, it worked a treat after I restarted the system, it asked for my appleID and my password and I was back on track. Thank very much Ralph your advice is much appreciated.
