Macbook pro trackpad/wrist area makes annoying ticking sound

My macbook pro trackpad/wrist are often makes an annoying clicking/ticking sound when I'm using it - especially when on a hard surface. It's the 15" mid-2012 version, I just bought it a few months ago (right before it was discontinued). The sound is quite annoying and unnerving as I often work in a quiet environnement.

Do I need to contact Apple about this? Is this something they'll cover?
