I followed this step twice (to be sure) and got the message both times: 'Windows found the driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it, Apple recovery (iBoot) USB Driver, access denied'....any further suggestions please?

Device is listed as being in recovery mode with the following message: 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) Access is denied. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver'......hence I followed the above instruction to locate and install driver software but with no luck

Hi there, I'm having the same problem but when I follow your steps but I have looked in both Common Files and the common files x86 etc and there are no driver options.  This is just driving me crazy and I HATE WINDOWS 8 with a passion - I cannot believe they rolled out this new SOE without doing some basic UAT - honestly they should be hanging their heads in shame at such a cluster.......

So back to my request how do I get my iphone to be recognised on itunes using windows 8?  Thanks so much in advance....

Thank you so much JF Fourie! I have been having this issue for a month now and thought it was my chord because it wasn't an official apple iphone chord. Thank you very much...Created an apple forums account just to type this in...

I tried everything under the sun, but what finally worked for me was uninstalling absolutely everything apple related from "Uninstall programs" on the control panel (on Windows 8 desktop), including "Apple Application Support", "Apple Mobile Device Support", "Apple Software Update", "Bonjour" and iTunes. Actually all of the abovementioned are installed as part of the iTunes setup, but are not removed when iTunes is uninstalled. Besides that I went into my program files and deleted all remnants of apple folders, as well as in "common files"... Then I reinstalled iTunes... and now all is well with the world once again. My iPhone and iPad were recognized immediately when connected.

Just thought I'd chime in here in case there were a couple of people out there that might have tried everything else already. Don't be shy to get rid of absolutey everything Apple related (By the way... Safari should be fine to leave as is)... iTunes will put it all back there where it belongs. Just install the latest iTunes and you're good to go.

PS. Just to clarify, I did not have any sort of "Apple Mobile Device" entry in "Device Manager" to speak of, so I could not follow Fourie's advice (which I had previously found in a good Youtube video)... so a complete and thorough uninstall and reinstall was what it took for me.

Seems like you had the same problem I did Shelly... The above comment is what worked for me. I hope this works for you if you haven't found a solution yet!
