I have reinstalled Numbers from the App Store on my Macbook running Mavericks but it just hangs and does nothing. Even double clicking a Numbers file opens the program but then does nothing.
Any ideas or is it possible to go back to a previous version?
How did you uninstall? Sometimes there are several things that also need to get deleted in addition to the application itself in order to get a true fresh start.
I'd follow the directions here:

Among other things, buried in there, it tells you to delete this: ~/Library/Container/com.apple.iWork.Numbers
Make sure to restart the computer afterwards.
And then download Numbers again from the App Store.

By the way, if you had the previous version of Numbers (i.e. 2.3) installed before updating to Numbers 3.0, then the previous version is still there in the applications folder.
