Other than your data on an internal hard disk drive, the ten year old Mac

may still be useful to someone who knows how to fix them; some people

restore & donate these to persons who don't want the newest/latest Mac.

A local Apple User group may be helpful in determining how to find a re-user.

And someone there may be able to help you remove the hard drive or its data.

Places such as these take them and may sell working units

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

Getting a computer responsibly reused or recycled comes down to three things:

  1. location
  2. location
  3. and location

If you tell us where you are, we may be able to help find an appropriate service in your area. A number of us are old retired guys who have time to search for little gems like that!

I totally agree with K Schaffer: reuse always trumps recycle when possible!
