Wi-fi connection drops after Mavericks update.

Currently running an 8GB, 2.9 GHz, Mid-2012, 10.9.1 Macbook Pro. Ever since installing Mavericks, my macbook continuously drops the wi-fi connection while still connected to the router. In some cases, it drops the router completely. I go through the Turn Wi-fi Off then On process and it works, but only for a bit. Anyone have a way to sort this out, oh and just in acse this may be a router issue, the router is a Cisco DPC3825.
