I have lost all my photos on Mac Air

I don't know what happened but all my photos are gone from IPhoto. I have seached the entire HD. I do have them on my IPhone. Is there any way to transfer them to the Air?.

Did you check ~/users/yourusername/Pictures for iPhoto Library file?

Yes, you can transfer the photos from your phone by connecting the phone to your MBA using USB cable to importa the photos using Image Capture (~/Applications/Image Capture).

Image Capture is indeed very useful and I upload photos off IOS devices regularly that way.

You can aso import directly to iPhoto. Open iPhoto, connect the iPhone via USB as above and select it in the sidebar and then various straightforward options are presented.
