Hotmail IMAP server not responding

Hello!

I need help please!

So here is my problem... A few days ago, I stopped receiving email in my Hotmail account on Mail unless I unchecked SSL. I was still on POP3 so I decided to trash the account and re-add it with the IMAP settings. It worked for a fast second and then same thing, the server is not responding. I unchecked SSL and it started working again... but I don't think that's a viable option! I also tried it out in Safe Mode and it worked just fine. (or maybe I didn't wait long enough for it to stop working...) -_-

I really appreciate any suggestions you can offer!

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Hey. Same Problem. After installing Mavricks, hotmail account POP3 was working well. A few days ago it stopped revieving Mails from hotmail account. Please give us advice on how we can solve the problem.

Well, I decided to buy Postbox hoping it would resolve the issue... No dice!

I contacted the Microsoft Answer Desk (maybe I should've done that first) and they said : Currently, we are experiencing and intermittent connection failure using the IMAP connection. Microsoft is aware of the issue and we have engaged our Product team who is actively investigating.

I guess I'll wait then. 😟

I tried the same thing! Hoping that Postbox would fix the issue. Fortunately just went for the trial first. Hope MS fixes the issue soon.

Haha, I was a little too fast on the credit card for that one...

Good news peeps! My Hotmail account is now working again with Apple Mail! We can all rejoice now! But honestly, I have no idea what happened. I just deleted and re-added the account (again!) after chatting with the MS guy and tah-dah! it worked.

I'm knocking on wood and keeping my fingers crossed that it stay like this!

Is deleting and reinstalling the MSN account the only solution that MS offered?

I contacted Microsoft tech support last night (Feb 5) and they said that they were having problems with the cluster that my account was on.

As of now my hotmail account still isn't working. I've tried deleting and recreating the hotmail account a few times. It still didn't work.

Strange thing is that the imap connection for my hotmail works on my iphone and ipad.

I wish I had a clue about what made it work. It just happened. Yeah, my connection was still working on my iPhone and Android...

They didn't suggest any solution, they just said to wait and they would resolve the issue.

Mine starting working this morning. I spent a couple of hours on chat trying to fix it to no avail~uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. When I started everything this morning, it all worked~MacBook Pro, iphone and ipad. None of them worked last night. Go figure.

Hi I'm still having trouble using Outlook.com with Apple Mail. It's perfectly fine working on my Android Phone (never stoped working there in the first place).

Apple Mail can connect to the SMTP Server of Outlook.com but I'm getting the same error for the IMAP Server of Outlook.com as valclermif I check the connections.

It seems that this issue is still not resolved 😟

Hello All,

I am facing the same problem as Valclerm, since I reinstalled the hotmail in my mail App with the IMAP option (doesnt allow POP3 anymore) I just get and not get the emails.... same in my ipad... is just annoying.

In my iphone as it is a POP3 still works fine.

In my case it works on and off... without any explanation.

Yes, seems issue not resolved.
