Q: Why does iTunes shut down with moments of loading on my (not new) PC?

I have enjoyed iTunes on my PC for years with no problems but in the last couple of months it has been barely useable.

I get an error saying that a 'A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly' and it then switches itself off (iTunes) with no new information. This has started spontaneously in last 2 months - I don't have a new computer and I haven't made big changes that I can think of.

I find that if I turn off the sync to the cloud it lasts a little longer but will still shut down within 15 minutes or so with the same message.

It is very frustrating, as you can imagine, so help is most welcome.

I run Windows XP on a Lenovo T430s if that makes any difference.
