Yes, you will need the Apple ID and Password linked to your phone, without it you cannot activate the phone.

Go to https://iforgot.apple.com to recover your ID or Password.

If you do not have the original owner's activation information and password, the phone can not be activated. Without this information, the phone is useless.

Sorry, no one here can help you, nor can/will Apple. Without this info, all you'll own is an expensive paperweight...you'll never be able to use this phone.

Called Activation Lock, & there's no way around it.

There's nothing anyone around here can do to help you witht that. You will need the Apple ID and Password of the original owner of the phone.

It is a security measure and a very important one at that.
