Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) was the first downloadable Mac OS X version. All previous versions required either a DVD or a set of CDs.

You can call Apple Support and for a shipping ang handling fee get the original Gray install version of Mac OS X that was shipped with your Mac.

Any older version you can download would be an illegal copy and very possibly infected with malware (one of the few vectors that have succeeded in infecting Macs).
