Q: iMac Upgrade
Hi
My dad is looking to upgrade from 2GB to 8GB of ram which apple say that it is the maximum that the iMac mid 2009 can support up to(it is old but it dose the job that he needs it for). Is it worth doing this? He is using 10.9.1 he also wants to put Windows XP on the mac using virtual box.
Is it worth upgrade the ram if so will the mac support up 8GB of ram.
Thanks Alex/Sean
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

You are welcome.
While 2GB is the minimum requirement for Mavericks, it really needs more to be at it's best. If you are going to upgrade, it is best to go for the full 8GB that his iMac can take instead of only 4GB.
For more on upgrading, see > iMac: How to remove or install memory, in addition to the helpful links and videos in that OWC link that I posted above.
