iPhone 5 movie playback freezes every few seconds

While using the Apple video app on my iphone 5 to play movies saved on the cloud (iTunes movies), the playback freezes every few seconds. I've left it paused to allow for buffering, but still doesn't get resolved so I'm hoping it's another issue/setting I can change. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
