Unable to connect iPhone to iPhone Configuration Utility due to passcode

I'm trying to setup my iPhone for corporate usage. When connecting my iPhone to the iPhone Configuration Utility, in order to setup corporate e-mail on my device, i get an error message that because of an active passcode the device cannot connect to the tool.


I get the following error message:

"Your device is protected with a passcode. In order to use this device it must be paired with this computer. Please unlock your device so pairing may proceed."


Even when turning off the passcode, deleting the profiles in (Settings --> General --> Profiles) and restarting the device, I get the same error message.


Any suggestions?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
