after clicking attachments in mail files are sent to Preview. When clicked on in Preview i am getting an error message "___ file could not be opened. may be damaged or use a file format Prieview doesn't recognize". Any suggestions?

Can you open other files of the same type in Preview? If so, send yourself a test message with a known-good file as an attachment.
I'm having the same issues. I'm taking the photo with an HTC ONE then sending it to my Yahoo mail, then attempting to open the image on Macbook. I'm running version 10.9.1. Just had my computer re-formated so wondering if I need to download some sort of driver .
I'm having the same issue as MayMay65. Prior to November 2013, I had no problem opening pdf files that were attached to emails. I can open the same files on my iPhone and iPad but not on my MacBook.
