Q: keychain no longer shows passwords

Since the change to Mavericks my keychain no longer shows passwords, my iPhone no longer logs onto Skype and I can't look up the password any more in my keychain.

What has gone wrong?

    What happens if you double click on a password in Keychain Access? I get a show password option.

    You also might try running Keychain First aid and as a last resort, try resetting the original keychain.

    Whether I try to tick the show password box or double click I get nothing on Skype. Keychain first Aid finds no errors.

    I have re-checked and the show password does still show passwords for other logins than Skype.

    I am reluctant to reset the keychain since my main computer has keychain items in it going back decades and now with the iCloud links between machines I am scared to do anything in my laptop which Mavericks will apply to my Mac Pro where keychain still behaves normally.

    Mavericks has already made my contacts list on the master machine unuseable and pointless to back up.

    You may guess that I am less than impressed by Mavericks making my computer more like a phone...
