Hi! Do you know if this has any effect on the actual performance of the unit? Unfortunately, mine is already out of warranty..

On my unit I have this defect. I'm still under warranty (2 years,Italy) but I have not yet changed the display and I can tell you that I have not noticed decrease in performance. I think you should try to change the display in warranty because it is a defect caused by apple and not from you.

Hey. Had the same problem myself. If you're in the uk, you in essence have a 6 year warranty based on this piece of EU consumer law. Apples website states it clearly:

They agreed to replace screen for free despite me being well outside my 1 year 'apple' warranty. Phone also had a camera fault (pink or blue blocks, crashing etc) so they gave me a new handset in the end, again based on this piece of consumer law.

Same for me, after iOS 9 update.

I also noticed this recently since the iphone 5 was used by my Mom for the past 2.5 years and she gave it to me as a hand-me-down. Unfortunately the pink hue is very noticeable on white background. Can i demand apple to replace it? It seems iphone 5 has many issues including the battery as mine gets drained from 50% to 30% and sometimes from 30% to 0. 😟
