Why can't I update my macbook to os x 10.6.8?

When I try to upgrade my Macbook Pro from OS X 10.6.3 to 10.6.8, nothing happens. I follow all the instructions and when my computor has re-stared nothing is upgraded. I've tried several times, and the same thing happens everytime. Nothing.

Please help me!

Try using the Combo Updater downloaded directly from the Apple download website.

Try going to Safari preferences, general tab, in the drop down "Save Downloaded files to;" click on it and select other, then select desktop from the left.

Then download the stand alone installer from here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399

Then open the installer package on the desktop and follow the promts, after the install completes restart your computer, then run software update.
