Flash is freezing

Flash is freezing

When viewing a page that uses a flash plug-in, the page will freeze after a few seconds of inactivity by me. It will start again if I touch my mouse or track pad over the area, but that's no solution. That's terrible.

I thought maybe it was a new setting, and I unchecked the option to stop plug-ins to save power when possible, but that didn't do anything.

This isn't ruining my life or anything. I'm just playing little flash games like Adventure Quest, and zOMG, but it's irritating.

From the menu bar, select

 ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced

and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

From the Safari menu bar, select

Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data

and confirm. Test.

If there's no improvement, reboot and test again.

I can't keep doing resetting Safari every day. This is a temporary soulution, almost as temporary as moving the mouse.

I swear that for this reason, Safari is garbage since switching to Mavericks.

No problems with Safari and Flash here on Mavericks ...

The Divx player can cause incompatibility issues with Flash.

Cannot uninstall DivX on a Mac | DivX Forums

If you don't have DivX installed, try troubleshooting Safari extensions.

From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

If it's not an extension issue, delete the cache.

Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db

Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
