Associated apple Ids and 90 day periods between switches

My husband and I both have apple IDs, Itunes account and our own log ins in our Mac. I'm trying to download Itunes purchases made on my phone onto my computer and there is a message that says:

This Computer is already associated with an Apple ID.

If you download past putchases with your Apple ID, you cannot auto-download or download past purchases with a different Apple ID for 90 days.

Cancel or Transfer.

I don't think we've ever had this problem before. The same computer with two different log ins and two different apple ids for Itunes... Any ideas as to what might be going on?

When you use iTunes Match or automatic download or redownload an account's past purchases then you may tie that computer or device to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 - so you won't be able to do any of those three things on a different account until the 90 days have completed (it shouldn't affect the ability to buy/download new items). I believe that it's an attempt to stop people signing into their account on somebody else's computer/device and downloading their own purchases onto it.

If you can't wait until the 90 days have completed then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can remove the association : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page. But doing either of these three things are likely to start a new association.

The 90 day limit is to do with the stores (redowloading past purchases, automatic downloads, iTunes Match), it shouldn't have impact on the account that you are using in Settings > iCloud.

When you have Find My iPhone enabled in Settings > iCloud, to then log out of that account (or just turn off Find My iPhone) you have to type in that account's password. Have you done that ?

Do you mean that you updated your existing account to have a new primary email address on it, or that you have created an entirely new account ?

If the former then try the suggestions on this page to log out of the old version of the account so that you can log back in with the updated version of the account (or use a different account : If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support
