Iphone3G + (older) MacBkP13" = replacement time?? Help?

All/any:

I own an older IPhone (3G). I was hospitalized, it's like the whole Apple World disappeared.

I own one of the first (old) MacBookPro 13"'s to come out. Just loaded "Maverick" (duh... wasn't that a James Garner Western?) &/or X OS. Runs slow, dumped a lot of movies, junk, it's better.

I can't use the AirDrop anymore (older IPhone 3G -> old MacBookPro 13"). ( 1) Is there a pathway that will allow me to have AirDrop once again?

I also have an older MacBookAir at my work desk... I'm getting the impression I'm nearing a BIG PURCHASE at Apple (computer, phone)....??? (2) Is it time to

replace my MacBookPro, MacbookAir?? (3) Will adding more memory help - was running slow, glitches, pauses....

I would appreciate any help on my dilemma.
