Q: Iphone 5s went dead, wont restart

my iphone 5s just turned itself off, does not restart... was charged about 50% when it went dead (black screen). Pressed & held the sleep/wake button.  Recharge it and verified cable is working, but screen remains black, any ideas?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.4, black screen - telephone dead

Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
