Self assigned IP address?

Yesterday my internet was working just fine. This morning it said "wifi has self assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to internet" what does this mean and how do I fix it? Should I go to an apple store? I'm new to the apple products so I'm new at this. PLEASE HELP!
