Has anyone been having problems with this reappearing bomb in the 10.6.8 download to upgrade from 10.6 installation?
Is there a work around available?

That is one of the false-positive alerts that Avast! is known for. I suggest that you uninstall it & ignore the warning.

Uninstall Avast. It's 100% garbage capable of nothing benefical.
Use its uninstaller.
