HEEELLLPPPPPP!!!! G4 fried!

Powerbook wont start-up. Turn it on, hear a friendly chime, the screen goes on and a familiar white screen with the apple on it. the little start-up key goes and then nothing.....stays at this stage forever! any suggestions?

powerbook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.4)

it could be a hard drive issue. stick in your OSX install dvd and startup from it, go disk utility and see what the SMART status is. if it's 'failing' then it's time to get a new hard drive.
