2012 Macbook i7 vs New iMac i5

I have a 2012 macbook pro equiped with a 2.6 i7 and 16gb Ram as well as a 250GB SSD. I am a photographer full time and would like a larger screen for editeding and client presentations. I was curious if I were to get rid of my macook for the new iMac with the 3.2 or 3.4 i5 and 8GB Ram, would I see a huge difference in preformance?

I use my laptop daily for photoshop workflow and I cant afford to have my computer bogging down because of a slow processor, is the new iMac more than enough to handle photoshop?
