i have recently hand my ipone 4 over to my farther.
i have reset the phone and now tring to activate it for him on itunes, when i am prompted for apple ID, i am told i cant use this to re activeate the phone..
what do i do to get the phone and itunes working for him..

Before trying to set up the iPhone for your father, you need to:
Backup the device to iTunes or iCloud, if desired: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Off
Settings > FaceTime > Off
Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (this only unregisters and deletes it off the iPhone)
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
