HELP!!! IPOD WON'T SYNC TO MY WINDOW 8 LAPTOP

I have a windows 8 laptop and everytime i plug in my ipod. it shows up as a disc drive. itunes use to show up but not anymore and no matter how many times i reset my computer to see if my ipod is connected to itunes. it is NOT connected. i cant even find my ipod on my itunes. it just keep setting up as a disc drive. and i follow the instructions to reset the itunes. nothing happens. and i try reseting my ipod on my computer but it shows it as an APPLE IPOD PROPERTIES and NOT APPLE IPOD MOBILE DEVICE so thats a probem and I NEED HELP!!!!!!
