I got lucky.
After trying all sorts of solutions from Internet sources, I restored my computer to an earlier date. Yesterday.
i Tunes Software Update appeared in my Start Menu.
When I clicked on it an update was listed.
Previously I was informed my software was up to date.
I installed the software update and voila, iTunes was installed.
Often times lucky beats good!

why is apple not finding a proper solution to this issue.
Have you tried working through the user tip Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates yet? If not try that, if you get stuck ask for help...

Sometimes I wonder if apple doesn't deliberately do things to windows machines to frustrate you into buying a mac. Apples make for some great pies but I don't want one in my pc lol.
