I am trying to stream music to my apple tv using my ipad air and when the ipad goes to sleep it stops playing. I have all the most up to date software. Does anyone know if there is a setting on my ipad I am not seeing or know how to fix this issue? I have tried to look at the troubleshooting and it is no help at all.

No it is with everything music. My iTunes music and spotify.
Strange. Can't reproduce the issue here. I asume you've tried a reboot on all devices and reset to ATV. Try unplugging ATV and wait a few seconds then plug back.
So I tried it on my other Apple TV and it seems to work. Do you think it has anything to do with it being a first generation Apple TV and I have an ipad air?
Yes, that would have been helpful information. Is the other Apple a newer one?
The 1st generation is discontinued and no longer receives updates. It also doesn't support airplay, but rather an older protocol.
So I lied it did the same thing on the newer Apple TV. Is there a setting on the ipad air that would make it turn off air play when it goes to sleep?
Then I go back to my original response. No, there is no such setting. The only other thing to check may be your router.
