Ethernet Problem.

My 2 y/o iMac,lost his Ethernet connection in the System Preference/Network.

it doesn't appear in the list, and i can't add it back with the + option.

i'm really lost with that guys.someone has a answer for that?

do i need to install from scratch the operating system, just to make it appear again?

and after that i need that the iMac will see his IP address.

he didn't saw it before the Ethernet connection lost.

in the end i need that a PC computer will read the Mac.

without the Ethernet and the Mac IP address,it won't function.

Thanks,

Dor Friedman

Lighting strikes and power surges can most definitely burn out the Ethernet circuitry.

Try resetting your SMC, as per > Resetting the System Management Controller

1. Shut down the computer.

2. Unplug the computer's power cord.

3. Wait fifteen seconds.

4. Attach the computer's power cord.

5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

Then if that does not work to restore your iMac's Ethernet. Try setting up a wireless network, as per > Mac Basics: File Sharing
