You probably appreciate this point but I would just like to emphasize that the work around (i.e., making Tiff or PNG files is a tedious solution). Many of us want to build in parts from an illustrator document. With this strategy, one must make many different tiff or pdf files to do what used to be a simple build task. One of the main assets of the previous versions of Keynote was that it did not require the clunky approaches that Powerpoint does. The new version does. Sorry that I upgraded.

Scott,

No you are not doing anything wrong, I have had issues with copying selected items in the new keynote and pasting to a new file in Adobe Illustrator, they are "blacked out" and rendered useless, I have removed the new Keynote and am now working in the older version Keynote 09. All is back to normal. Side note, Apple has become so fixed on communication software and seems to be ignoring the Graphic Artists,

While it ***** to have to outline everything, it at least is a method of getting vector graphics into keynote.

Hopefully this will be addressed at some point.

Already sorted in Keynote 6.2.

Vector graphics can be imported into keynote by dragging and dropping an EPS .eps or Illustrator .ai file from the finder directly on to the Keynote slide canvass, or selecting the object in Illustrator and dragging onto the slide canvass.
