Trackpad Sensitivity

I have a June 2012 13in Macbook Pro with OS X Mavericks installed. Off late I have noticed that the sensitivity of my trackpad has reduced a little. For eg. for tap-click, I need to tap a little harder now, as compared to before. This has become very irritating. Every time I need to click something, I tap once, no response , and I have to tap a little harder.

What could be the problem ? Is it a hardware issue or a software issue ? Can taking my MBP to a service center resolve this issue ?

I think it is more of a software problem. I say this because the trackpad works flawlessly when I switch to Windows. I installed a software called MagicPrefs in OS X and it helped. So I am looking for a solution that can help me in OS X itself.
