App Store shows V.3.5.1 Aperture shows V.3.4.5?

Hi

Running a 2012 MacPro with OSX 10.9.1 and have Aperture installed. My App Store shows that Aperture upraded to Version 3.5.1 on the 7th of January 2014 but "about Aperture" in the application shows Version 3.4.5! I picked this up when exporting a Project as a library from my MacBook Pro (also Mavericks) and it gave an error message on import saying that the Library cannot be opened as it was made in a newer version of Aperture.

So my App Store is convinced its upgraded Aperture and that there is no download available, Aperture says it isnt!

Any clues as to how to reslove this would be must appreciated.

Are you sure you do not have two copies of Aperture on your system? If you go into the Applications folder, locate Aperture with the Finder and then do a Get Info what version is reported?

No duplicate version installed, but the fix was simple. Copied Aperture 3.5.1 from my MacBook Pro Applications folder and dropped it into the Applications folder on the MacPro... overwrote the 3.4.5 version and problem solved.

You could have just installed it from the MAS. The MAS license allows you to install the app on as many systems as you own or control.

No need to copy from system to system. In fact that may wind up giving you an unstable install.

It was already installed, it just wasn't updating even though app store thought it was. App store and aperture had no option to force or redo the upgrade, hence the drastic measures. Using it extensively now and it seems stable enough.

MAS = Mac App Store.

If Aperture was listed in your purchases tab in the Mac App Store then you could have just deleted Aperture from the Applications folder and loaded a fresh copy.

Ok, did check there and bizarrely it wasn't even though it was purchased, by me, in this account. Thats another reason I did what I did, don't have time for Apple to sort out their housekeeping. I know I purchased the app, but getting them to sort out there records is another matter.

Anyway all seems fine.
